After going 26 years without appearing in the Landis Memorial Cup, the Vancouver Mounties won the MBBA championship last year in their first ever appearance in the Series. Now the Mounties have successfully defended that championship title with another scintillating performance despite the absence of star center fielder Jiummie Joe Janero and star pitcher Ben Walsh to injuries.

In the opening Doubleday round the Mounties once again faced the Baltimore Monarchs and dispatched them four games to two as Dan Druff (.476) was named series MVP. The bullpen recorded twelve innings in relief and allowed nary a run. In the league championship series the tough Madison Wolves were looking for revenge after suffering a humiliating sweep by the Mounties in last year's LCS. It was a seat squirming seven game series that saw the Mounties prevail in game seven behind a strong pitching effort from Robbie Sargent. In the Landis Cup the Mounties faced the surprising wild card Des Moines Kernels. They were no match for the Mounties who quickly swept the series behind Shane Wookey's two victories, and Vancouver was again on top of the baseball world.

Shane Wookey was named the MVP of the Landis Cup Series. He was the workhorse starter for the Mounties in the playoffs as he won five games while losing only once and posting an ERA of 2.57. His lifetime postseason record now stands at nine wins against a single loss in 10 appearances. Closer Jason Egan was perfect once again as well. In fifteen post season appearances he has an amazing record: one win and fourteen saves and ERA of 0.00. The offense was balanced and there was no outstanding player at the plate across all three playoff rounds.

The Mounties won the 1999 championship of the Montgomery Brewster Baseball Association. The club finished the regular season with a record of 102 wins and only 60 losses, just one game shy of the best record in the league posted by the Madison Wolves. Vancouver faced the Baltimore Monarchs in the first round of the playoffs and prevailed four games to one. In the Johnson League championship series the Mounties came up against the tough Madison Wolves and surprised the baseball world by sweeping four straight from the Wolves. In the Landis Cup the foe was the Buffalo Bison. The Mounties continued to impress, and the Bison managed only a single victory as Vancouver won their first ever championship in five games

Shane Wookey, Ben Walsh, and Jason Egan were the pitching stars for the Mounties. Wookey was 4-0 in five starts and Walsh won all three of his starts. Egan appeared seven times in relief and didn't give up a run in eight innings. He recorded a win and five saves. Second baseman Doug Newhouse was named MVP of the playoffs for his .455 average. He had five home runs, fourteen runs batted in, nineteen runs scored, and ten stolen bases.
